Today marked our final Walk to School event for Term 1. I would like to thank all families, students and staff who participated in the Walk to School mornings throughout the term. A special thank you to Mrs Bartleton for her organisation and ongoing support of this initiative. We will continue with Walk to School into Term 2.

Don't forget to bring back the tickets for the Easter raffle by Monday 30th March.

NAPLAN testing concluded successfully this week. Each year, students in Year 3 and Year 5 participate in assessments covering Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language (grammar, spelling and punctuation), and Mathematics. Thank you to our Year 3 and Year 5 teaching teams, along with Leasyl Richards, for the preparation and organisation of the testing which ran, which ensured the smoothly. A big thank you also to our students for their effort and commitment throughout the process.
Results will be available from Term 3.
We are excited to invite you to a special whole-school Assembly at 9:10 am on Thursday, 2nd April, held on the school oval, as we celebrate Harmony Day at Wheelers Hill Primary School. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate the rich diversity of our community and promote a strong sense of belonging for all.
On this day, students are encouraged to wear cultural clothing (traditional or modern) or dress in orange, the official colour of Harmony Day. Students are also welcome to bring their own cultural food for lunch and, if they wish, share about their food with their class. Please note that there will be no sharing of food.
This year’s celebration will feature a special Chinese face-changing performance and an energetic Indian Bollywood dance, showcasing the beauty of different cultures.
Families are warmly invited to join us for this celebration. We would especially love to see you wearing your cultural clothing as you celebrate alongside your child/children.

Parent/Teacher Interview bookings for next week are now available on Compass, and I encourage all families to book a time. These interviews are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress so far this year, as well as identify areas for focus and set goals for Term 2. Interviews will be held onsite, giving families the chance to meet with teachers in person and see their child’s classroom and learning environment.
The Australian Education Union held a stop work/strike day on Tuesday 24 March. Twelve of our classroom teachers, along with a number of specialist teachers and support staff, participated in the action.
Thank you to the many families who supported this by keeping their children at home, enabling staff to take part.
For the students who did attend, the school was able to operate a relatively normal program, although some specialist classes did not run.
The last day of term is on Thursday 2nd April. Please note the earlier finish time.
The first day back of Term 2 is Monday 20th April.
