Year 3

Hard to believe we have almost made it through Term 3. There are still plenty of exciting things happening before the final day on Friday 20th September (3.30pm finish).

In Inquiry the students will be putting their design skills to the test and finally making their rubber band powered cars. Please discuss with your child if there is anything from home they need to bring in. In the last two weeks of term they will be seeing which car can travel the furthest, so fingers crossed their designs hold up!

Numeracy Week

In Week 9 (beginning Monday 9th September), we will be celebrating all things mathematical! Mr Wastie has planned a wonderful incursion for the Grade 3 students, who will take part in the mysterious 'Escape Room' activity on Thursday 12th September (please ensure you have given permission on Compass). Another way we will be celebrating the week is allowing the students to come to school in free dress, as long as their items of clothing have a visible number on them. This will take place on Monday 9th September.

Movie Day

On Tuesday 17th September, in the last week of term, the students will be taking part in the annual Movie Day! To make sure that we are at our maximum comfort levels, students are allowed to come in their pyjamas that day. A gold coin donation is required to do this. The students are also allowed to bring a small pillow or cuddly toy to rest on, as well as some light snacks (normal school rules apply to no sharing food).

Year 4

We have had a busy two weeks in Year 4, including the Father's Day stall. On Friday at lunch time we welcomed in Father's/ Grandfather's/ Pop's/ Nonno's and other special friends to enjoy lunch with the students.

In Inquiry the students have been learning about the Digestive System and healthy bodies. They will be doing a research project on their choice of system in the next couple of weeks.

In Maths the students have learnt to calculate the Area and Perimeter of their own designed mini gold course, while continuing to develop problem solving skills in Money using Addition and Subtraction.

Year Fours had 'All In Sports' come visit and hold an interactive sports session this week. They are running a 2 day program where parents can book in for their child during the school holidays. Information has been sent home with the children today.

Numeracy Dress Up day

Numeracy week is next week and we are starting off the week as a Numeracy Dress Up day, this is Monday 9th September. Students are encouraged to come to school in free dress with a number represented somewhere on their shirts/jumper.

There is also a Maths Escape Room experience for the Year 3 and 4 students and teams have planned some awesome Math lessons.

Parent Maths Night

Vermont PS his holding its annual Parent Maths Night in the Stadium from 6.30-7.30 on Thursday, September 19. Our guest speaker this year is renowned Mathematics educator, Michael Minas, founder of LoveMaths (www.lovemaths.me). The theme of the night is "How Parents Can Best Support Their Child to be Successful Mathematicians".
