SELF-IDENTITY & PAINTING
SELF PORTRAITS IN THE LC ART CLASS.
This semester’s LC Art students are exploring self-identity as a theme for artmaking. They began by creating collages using found, readily available mass- produced images to describe their interests, wishes and dreams.
The students have now progressed to developing a self-portrait drawing which will then be refined and turned into a large watercolour painting.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Visual Arts
Year 7A & 7B Warm and Cool Colours Paintings
Students have used acrylic and watercolour paints in the theme of warm and cool colours. The subject matter was their own choice, but they had to apply their knowledge learnt about colour and the effects it can create in mood and aesthetic appeal when contrasted together for a warm or cool colour palette.
The classes covered colour theory first, and then later really enjoyed choosing their own subject matter for these lovely varied and individual artworks.
Year 9 ART
Students have been learning the techniques involved in creating Gelli Prints using a gel plate and acrylic paint.
They researched the theme of symbols traditionally used as a means of communication by Indigenous people and applied these to the backgrounds they had created by Gelli Printing.
After exploring this medium they continued with the Australian theme creating drawings and paintings on the topic of Australian Flora and Fauna.
This body of work was very successful with students really enjoying the processes involved.
