JANE MOLONEY READING AWARD
Every semester we like to acknowledge our most prolific readers in Yrs 7 and 8, so we give a certificate and a book voucher from our local book store in Bentleigh – Benn’s Books – to two students who have borrowed and read the most books according to our library catalogue.
The reading award is named after Jane Moloney, who worked in our library for many years before sadly passing away in 2020. She would have loved having her name attached to this award.
This semester’s Year 7 recipient is Sebastian Wong, who read Robert Muchamore's 'The Recruit' for book club and then continued reading the series, sometimes borrowing 3 books in the series over a weekend.
This semester’s Year 8 recipient is Tess Leeman, who has borrowed and read 14 books in Semester 1 and is a regular presence in the library.
It is so fantastic to see students like Sebastian and Tessa putting time aside to read novels when there are now so many competing forms of technologies stealing our attention. Well done!
