From the Principal

Mr Damian Messer

As we approach the end of term, it’s a moment of reflection and celebration for our senior students at St Mary’s. This journey is a significant chapter in their lives, filled with growth, challenges and unforgettable memories. It’s been a busy term, marked by hard work, resilience and the indomitable spirit of our students.

From the outset of the term, our senior students have faced numerous challenges, both academically and personally. Whether it was tackling demanding coursework, participating in cocurricular activities, or navigating the complexities of their final year, each student has risen to the occasion. Their dedication and commitment have not only been impressive but have also inspired those around them. It has been heartening to witness their individual and collective growth as they’ve stepped outside their comfort zones, learned to collaborate with their peers and developed leadership skills that will serve them well in the future.

The camaraderie amongst the students has been a cornerstone of this term. They’ve supported one another through late-night study sessions, shared the excitement of achievements, and provided comfort during challenging times. This bond, cultivated over years of shared experiences, is a testament to the nurturing environment we strive to foster at St Mary’s College. As they prepare to step into new ventures, it’s clear that the friendships formed here will be lasting, providing a network of support that extends beyond their time at school.

We must also take a moment to express our gratitude to the many individuals who have contributed to our community this term. To our coaches and managers, your dedication and passion have made a profound impact on our students. The countless hours spent planning practices, guiding our teams and instilling a sense of sportsmanship and teamwork have not gone unnoticed. You’ve not only developed our students' skills in various sports but have also taught them the importance of perseverance, respect and working towards a common goal.

Additionally, we owe a heartfelt thank you to the parents, carers, families and supporters who have cheered on our students from the sidelines. Your presence at games, performances and events has created an atmosphere of encouragement and pride. Your involvement in our community, whether through volunteering or simply being there for your children, has made a world of difference. The support system you provide is invaluable and plays a crucial role in the students' success.

We wish you a very relaxing and restful break as we prepare for the final run to the end of the year. We look forward to seeing you all at our many celebration events next term.
