From the Acting Principal

Dear families,
As we move towards the end of another busy and rewarding term, it has been wonderful to reflect on the learning, growth and achievements taking place in our classrooms and across the school. I have enjoyed reading the students Semester 1 Reports this week.
Semester 1 Reports & Student Led Learning Conferences – Semester 1 Reports will go home to all families this Friday, June 19th. Please take the time to read your childs report before meeting with your child's teacher next week.
Student Led Learning Conferences will be held next week on
Tuesday June 23rd, 12.15-7.00pm (early 12:00pm finish for students) and
Wednesday June 24th, 3.45-5.00pm.
These meetings are an opportunity for students to share their Semester One learning journey with their family. They are a time for sharing successes, strengths, challenges and future goals. In preparation for these conferences our students have reflected on their learning and set goals for future learning. Bring your child's Semester 1 Report with you.
Bookings are open and will close on Monday 22nd June at 9:00am

Make sure you visit the Sports page of this newsletter for a wrap up of Gr 5/6 Interschool Sports!
School Photos - individualised student flyers were sent home on Thursday 4th June - please follow the instructions on how to view and purchase online via the ARP platform. You will need your 2026 image code to order.
Dates to Remember - all the the Term Dates and School Closure days have been published on the Dates to Remember page since the start of the year. Add these to your diary! The events and special days for Term 3 have been added. These are added to and updated each fortnight.
Crossing Safety - St Mark's families are reminded again to use the School Crossings to cross Argyle and Lee Sts. Not only is this a safe practice, it also is a great example to the children to teach them vitally important road safety skills. Please do not cross the road in front of the staff carpark and school gate - this is very dangerous, walk the extra few metres to use the crossing. Our Crossing Supervisor, Eugenia is on leave until mid July and replacement staff will cover the crossing supervision during this time.
Speed Hump installation - works will begin soon on the installation of three speed humps on Argyle St. The council advise that the location of these were determined by the continued high speeds recorded on the street. Please be aware of the speed limit reduction from 50km to 40km on all local roads in Merri-bek.
Council do aim to minimise disruption and delay but please allow for extra travel time in case there is extra congestion of traffic during the coming weeks.
Farewell - Last week we said goodbye to Yona (LA3) and Kal (LA2) who recently moved to Kalkallo and have decided to attend a school closer to their home before travelling overseas to visit family. Next week we will say farewell to Helani (LA5), Audrey (LA8) and Ruby (LA10) who will attend schools closer to their home next term. We thank Yona, Kal, Helani, Audrey and Ruby for sharing their gifts and talents with the St Mark's community. We thank their families for their support of St Mark's during their time here. May the Holy Spirit watch over them and their families and guide them in all they do. We will offer a farewell to Helani, Audrey, Ruby and their families with a St Mark's blessing at assembly this Friday 19th June.
A reminder that next Friday June 26th is a student free day where students do not attend school. On this day St Mark’s staff will be engaging in oportunitites to nurture our Catholic faith when visiting the Mary Glowrey Museum in East Melbourne, followed by a tour and session at St Patricks Cathedral. By deepening our faith and understanding, we continue to inspire and guide the students on their spiritual journeys.
Our Principal Peter continues to be on extended personal leave. He passes on his sincere thanks for the beautiful eCard he recently received from the children and families. He said it brought him immense joy as he read each message and heard how well each child was growing and learning. He misses you all and is grateful for your ongoing support, which means so much to him.
Stay warm and we are looking forward to seeing you all throughout the Student Led Learning Conferences next week!
