Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
Farewell to our Business Manager
We will farewell Chelsea at the end of this term, and we would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank her for the outstanding contribution she has made to our kindergarten and school community.
Throughout her time with us, Chelsea has played a pivotal role in strengthening our school through her expertise, professionalism and commitment to continuous improvement. Her work has supported countless school improvements and ensured the smooth and effective operation of many aspects of school life.
Beyond her professional achievements, Chelsea has been a trusted colleague and valued member of our community, always approaching her work with kindness, integrity and genuine care for others.
On behalf of our staff, students and families, thank you, Chelsea, for your dedication and service. While you will be greatly missed, we are excited for the opportunities ahead and wish you every success, happiness and fulfilment in this next chapter.
Semester One Reports
Miners Rest Primary School will be providing student achievement reports for Semester One this year as usual.
The reports will be distributed on June 25.
The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments will not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
Classroom teachers will of course be pleased to discuss with you your child’s progress at our next Student Led Conferences, scheduled for September 16, or, as always, you can contact the school to arrange a meeting with your child’s teacher.
Vacation Care Interruption
Our Vacation Care Program will be suspended on Monday July 6 due to an interruption to electricity services onsite.
We understand this may create challenges for families in arranging alternative care and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this causes. We have provided as much notice as possible, in the hope that this will assist families to make suitable adjustments to their plans.
We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support as we work through this disruption. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
A busy and successful Term Two
As we conclude Term Two, we reflect on a busy and rewarding term filled with learning, leadership and community connection. Highlights included our well-attended ANZAC Day Service, Book Fair and National Simultaneous Storytime, all of which strengthened our commitment to literacy and community engagement.
Students participated in a range of enriching experiences, including camps, incursions, excursions and extension programs such as Bulldogs READ, LEAP and the Young Authors Group. Our Student Leaders and Junior School Council continued to make valuable contributions to school life, while wellbeing programs supported inclusion, resilience and student engagement.
A particular highlight was the positive feedback received regarding our students' behaviour and engagement during the Year 5/6 Sovereign Hill camp. We also thank our Parents and Friends Association for coordinating the Mother's Day Stall and acknowledge the wonderful support of families who participated in events such as Grandparents Morning and our very well-attended Special Person's Assembly and Open Afternoon. Together, these experiences have contributed to a successful and memorable term for our students and school community.
Happy Holidays
As we move into holidays at the end of this week, , I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff and families for their ongoing support, commitment and contributions to our school community.
This term has been filled with learning, growth and many memorable experiences. From camps, excursions and special events to the everyday achievements that occur in classrooms across the school, our students have continued to demonstrate enthusiasm, resilience and a commitment to doing their best. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
I would also like to acknowledge our dedicated staff, whose care, professionalism and commitment create the positive learning environment our students enjoy each day.
Thank you also to our families and volunteers for your partnership and support throughout the term. Together, we continue to build a strong and connected school community.
As we head into the holiday break, I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 and another exciting term of learning and growth.
Wishing all members of our school community a safe, happy and relaxing holiday break.
With kind regards,
Kylie Nissen.
