PREP

FROM THE CLASSROOM
It was another exciting week for the Preps! Through exploring new learning and continuing to build their understanding of respectful behaviours, the students have grown and learnt so much this term. What a wonderful way to finish off the term.
We hope everyone has a fun, safe, and restful winter holiday, and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 3!
In Investigations the Prep students have continued to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and why Country is important. Through Dream Time stories, students explored the connection between people, animals, and the land. They also discussed ways they can care for their classroom, playground, and school.
In Phonics, the students havebeen learning to read, write and say the diagraphs /zz/ /dd/ and /gg/. Students were also introduced to the new Heart Words me, you, into, look, some, little. Students are learning to recognise and read and write these high frequency words.
In Mathematics, students revised their numeracy knowledge from the term by revisiting and strengthening the mathematical ideas they had been learning, including recognising and ordering numbers, identifying and describing shapes, exploring patterns, and sequencing the days of the week.
During Wellbeing, students revised their Zones Toolbox and explored how to recognise big and small problems, including when to seek help from a teacher and when they can use their own strategies to sort things out.
In Writing, Students have been writing sentences using time connectives and applying a writer’s checklist to strengthen the punctuation and flow of their writing.
