This week, our Year 3 and 4 students began their learning on fossils. To kick off the topic, they created their own “fossils” using salt dough, pressing toy dinosaur or animals into the dough to mimic real fossil imprints.

Our Year 5 and 6 students have started an exciting design challenge: creating a plant or animal that could survive in the Karoo school environment. They have been thinking carefully about the behavioural and structural adaptations their organism would need. After planning their ideas, students began constructing models using plasticine, googly eyes, feathers, pipe cleaners and toothpicks. They also started planning their own David Attenborough–style documentaries to showcase their creations and explain how they survive.
Stay curious and keep experimenting!
