LOTE (Mandarin)
Ms Wenxi Jiang

Students have been exploring a range of fun and engaging Mandarin songs. Through singing and movement, they are building confidence in using simple Chinese words and phrases. They have also been practising their fine-motor skills by learning how to hold and use chopsticks correctly. Students enjoyed picking up beans, which helps strengthen finger control and coordination.

Students have been learning about Tangram puzzles, a traditional Chinese mathematical puzzle made of seven geometric pieces. They explored how the Tangram originated in China and how it has been used for storytelling, problem-solving, and creative design for centuries. Students experimented with different combinations of the seven shapes to form animals, people, and objects. They then applied their creativity by designing and decorating their own Tangram posters to display their creations.

Practise chopsticks at home: Encourage your child to continue practising their chopstick skills during meals.
Try a Tangram challenge together: Print or make a simple Tangram set at home or try creating animals or objects as a family.
Warm regards,
Ms Jiang
