Sydney Zoo and Opera House Excursion

This term, our Year 7 students had the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom with two memorable excursions. A visit to the Sydney Zoo and an inspiring trip to the Sydney Opera House to experience a live orchestra performance.

During the visit to the zoo on in week 3, students explored a range of exhibits and learned about animal habitats, adaptations, and conservation efforts. The excursion supported their science studies on ecosystems and biodiversity. Highlights of the day included seeing the Meerkats up close and attending an educational talk about native Australian wildlife. Students were enthusiastic and demonstrated excellent behaviour, representing our school with pride.

In term 3 year 7 travelled to the Sydney Opera House to attend an orchestra performance by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The concert helped students develop their understanding of music appreciation and performance, linking directly to their studies in year 7 Music class. They were amazed by the skill and coordination of the musicians.

Both excursions offered valuable opportunities for students to engage with the world beyond school, connect classroom learning to real-life experiences, and develop an appreciation for both nature and the arts.

A big thank you to the Music and Science faculty for coordinating these excursions, an enormous undertaking that should be commended. Because of their hard work, these excursions were able to run smoothly, and students were able to have these amazing experiences. Thank you also to the Year 7 students for their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour, you did a fantastic job representing our school and made both excursions a great success!
