ABCN Programs
As we continue to strengthen our partnership with external stakeholders, ABCN has been integral in fostering these relationships. Students participate in programs, aligned with the Careers curriculum to enhance and broaden their skills, not only pertaining to their education, but challenging themselves and gaining lifelong skills they are able to use today and in the future.
EMERGING LEADERS – ABCN & NOUS
“On the 28th of October, I attended a leadership program with a group of other Year Nines. It was an amazing experience for us as we learned about how to become a good and aspiring leader. We took part in various fun and challenging leadership activities that allowed us to build better confidence and learn how to work as a team. The mentors who worked with us were really kind and supportive, they were always ready to give us advice and motivation! The program also provided us delicious, free food for our lunch, which made our day even better. Attending this program, allowed us to learn many valuable skills on communication, teamwork and what it truly takes to become a great leader!”

TECH CAREERS EXPO – ABCN/KPMG
KPMG hosted the Tech Careers Program with students from Beverly Hills Girls and Bankstown Girls HS attending.
The Tech Careers Expo took place during August to coincide with National Science Week. The goal of this expo was to target students that may be interested in a technology career or are keen to explore the possibilities of a career in this sector and to encourage them to choose STEM subjects for their final school years. KPMG delivered an interactive technology career showcase, designed to raise awareness, and stimulate interest in the diversity of Tech careers and the different pathways into them.
“As a part of our yr 9 computing technology curriculum, we were invited to attend a technology-based careers expo at the company KPMG. When we first arrived at KPMG, we were met by a group of mentors who sat with us to talk about their tech careers and experiences. During the sessions, we were guided by an instructor who took us through a series of activities. We went through the different stages of technology throughout history, discussing how technology has evolved over time. As a final activity, we got to do a virtual escape room. Through this, we learnt about cyber safety and further expanded our knowledge on what is involved in a technology career. It was truly a wonderful experience" 😊
POLISH – BEACON FOUNDATION/FIDELITY INTERNATIONAL
“On Tuesday 11th November, my Jobs for Girls class visited Fidelity International, where we were taught by the Beacon Foundation. We participated in a programme named Polish, where our mentor, Chris, talked us through everything we needed to know and expect when going for our first job interview. He explained the importance of making a good first impression, how to recognise our own skills, and how to put together a strong elevator pitch. Later, we each had our own individual interviews with some of the employees from Fidelity International. Afterwards, we received feedback on what we did well and what we could improve on for next time. We had a chance to ask any questions we may have had and were rewarded with a certificate from the Beacon Foundation. It was a great opportunity and a wonderful experience to be a part of. “

Work Experience
Year 10 students have the opportunity to participate in Work Experience in Terms 2, 3 & 4. Work Experience is an invaluable opportunity for students to learn the job skills for a profession they may be interested in. Students may not always know which career direction to take and a good starting point is to choose the work which may align with their interests. Gaining experience in an adult work environment is important and may even help students to discover their future career path.
Work experience dates:
Term 4 2025
Week 7 November 24-28, 2025
Week 8 December 1-5, 2025
Week 9 December 8-12, 2025
