Year 11 News

Starting Year 12

The start of term 4 marks the end of our wonderful Year 11 students completing their Year 11 coursework and the beginning of them moving onto Year 12 coursework. This also involves assessment tasks from now on contributing to HSC marks and students’ ATAR. This is the final stretch. 12 months of education left before students finish their time at school and move onto bigger and better things. One more year before 13 years of schooling comes to a close.

This is such an exciting time in a young person's life, but it can also be one of the most stressful. We look forward to all the amazing events and milestones coming up in the next year, from graduation to school picnics. We also know that this is the time when young people need the most support. Check in with your daughters and see how they’re feeling. We also have a strong and comprehensive wellbeing team at Beverly Hills Girls High School that are always available to support those that need it.

Senior Jackets

Year 11 have just received their long-awaited jackets. So many students look forward to this event as now their role as leaders of the school can be seen as well as felt. The senior jackets look amazing, so a massive thank you to our jacket committee who put in many hours of work to design them. Senior jackets are a great way to build closeness between students but also a build a sense of belonging between students and their school community. All students agreed to the condition that the jackets are a privilege and that if the jackets are modified in any way or worn inappropriately, students may be asked not to wear them to school.

Year 11 Life Ready Program

On Friday the 7th of November, our Year 11 students took part in an important educational program led by our dedicated teachers. The program was designed to give students the knowledge and confidence to make informed, respectful, and safe decisions about relationships and sexual health.

Throughout the sessions, students explored key topics including consent, sexuality and gender, contraception, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). These lessons provided valuable opportunities for discussion, reflection, and learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The consent component focused on understanding boundaries, communication, and mutual respect — vital skills for all relationships. In exploring sexuality and gender, students examined the diversity of identities and experiences that make up our community, encouraging empathy and understanding. The contraception and STIs sessions offered practical, fact-based information about protection, prevention, and health services available to young people.

Teachers leading the program were impressed by the maturity and engagement shown by students, who approached sensitive topics with curiosity, respect, and openness.

This program is an important part of our school’s commitment to supporting students’ wellbeing and personal development, ensuring that every young person leaves school equipped with the knowledge to make positive and responsible choices.

Well done to all our Year 11 students for their participation and thoughtful contributions throughout the program!
