YEAR 7 GTS TECH TASTER

Year 7 Students Explore the Future of Technology at Gippsland Tech School!

Over the past few weeks, all our Year 7 students have had the exciting opportunity to visit the Gippsland Tech School for their STEAM Industry Tech Taster Workshops. Classes 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, and the Like Minds Year 7 group immersed themselves in a day full of creativity, innovation, and hands-on tech exploration.

Students dived into the world of Virtual Reality (VR)—learning how it’s transforming industries such as healthcare, car design, and architecture—and even took on a high-stakes VR bomb defusal challenge that put their communication and problem-solving skills to the test! A special congratulations to our top teams, Matilda B & Pearl T and Gracey B & Flick S, who worked brilliantly under pressure to beat the clock.

The workshops also gave students the chance to code robots to complete real-world tasks, including building security and deliveries, gaining insight into how robotics is shaping the future of work and emergency response. To round out the day, students became digital musicians, using GarageBand to compose their own original tracks and explore the intersection of technology and creativity.

A huge thank you to the Gippsland Tech School Team for delivering such an inspiring program, and to Mrs Witton for organising this fantastic opportunity for our Year 7 learners to experience what the future holds in the world of STEAM!
