The Gift of Gratitude

As we journey toward the close of a busy school year and begin to anticipate the joyful season of Advent and Christmas, it's easy to get caught up in the rush of end-of-term activities and preparations.

This week I would encourage you to take a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on the many gifts and blessings we have received. As a Catholic community, we believe that everything good in our lives comes from God, and recognising these gifts—from the simplest things like sunshine and laughter, to the people who love us—is the very heart of gratitude

Our focus in Wellbeing and through our school values is to encourage our students to actively practice being thankful, because research shows that a grateful heart is not only happier, but also more resilient and peaceful.

Here are three simple practical suggestions you could try at home to encourage gratitude.

  • Starting a "Blessings Jar" (writing down one thing you're thankful for each day).
  • A "Gratitude Scavenger Hunt" at home (finding things you are grateful for and naming them).
  • Writing a thank-you note to a teacher or staff member.
