Year 10 Outdoor & Environmental Studies
Our year 10 Outdoor and Environmental Studies class have been working towards there major practical assessment day hike, which took place on Thursday 6th November.
Students were asked to lead the trip and were all given individual roles such as navigation, minimal trace officer, time keeper, flora and fauna tracker etc. Students also had to work in teams to carry water, trangia’s, cooking ingredients and supplies for the day.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, offshore winds and an amazing view of a beautiful blue ocean throughout the hike from Sunny Meade to Urquhart's Bluff and back.
Students demonstrated excellent team work, problem solving and leadership skills and applied practical skills they had learnt throughout the semester, including leaving no trace, cooking on a trangia, meal planning, navigation and spotting local flora and fauna.
A special thank you to our amazing student teacher Lani, for her help with planning and teaching safe outdoor skills.
Well done to all involved!
Progressive Achievement Tests
At SCSC, our goal is to drive growth in every student. One tool we use to measure our impact on this growth is Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT). Commonly used across primary and secondary schools in Australia, PAT allows us to track the growth of individuals, classes, and year levels.
If you have a child in year 7-10 you will have received an email from us with your child’s PAT growth data for this year. Please take the time to review this information and reach out if you have any questions.
We are extremely proud of our students’ results and can confidently say that all year levels, in all areas, achieved well above the Australian wide expected growth!! This is a testament to the teaching and learning practices at SCSC, the expertise of our teachers, and of course, the hard work of our superstar students. We are very proud of you!
Year 11 VCE Vocational Major
Our Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students recently planned and hosted a Longest Kick Competition at lunchtime as part of their community-focused project work.
The aim was to encourage physical activity, promote healthy habits, and positive role modelling across the school. It was great to see so many students getting involved, cheering one another on, and enjoying the atmosphere.
Congratulations to our winners Imogen and Rollie, both from year 7, who took out first place in their divisions and each received a canteen voucher for their efforts.
Well done to the organising group for their leadership, teamwork, and initiative in bringing the school community together.
Congratulations Paige!
Paige has been shortlisted for the 'Top Designs for Product Design and Technologies'.
Paige designed a gender inclusive and adaptable garment that is aimed towards construction workers.
