St Roch’s School theme 2025:
Dear Families,
Welcome to our Issue 2 of our iNewsletter! We hope this newsletter continues to keep you up to date with all the news, events and learning that happens at St Roch's.
Sincere thanks to the many families in attendance at the Year 3 & 4 Working Bee on Sunday 23 February. Such a wonderful day for parents, students an siblings!! We thank James, Will, Charlotte, Lucinda, Nat and Jacci for leading the Working Bee and for the delicious sausage sizzle!! Thank you again to the following families: Nolan, Conellan, Nguyen, Thomas, Nichols, White, Ho, Crocker, Roberts-Critchley, Scheggia, Mellet, Moore, O'Connor, Denton, Lange, Dodd, Bristow, Sadler, Cheang, Bawden, Strauss, Muller in no particular order and hoping we have not missed anyone.
It was lovely to have our Year 6 Leaders lead their first whole school assembly and introduce themselves to our community.
International Women's Day - Friday 7 March
We are looking forward to celebrating all the amazing women in our community on Friday morning including our staff! We would love you to come along from 8.30am and enjoy a coffee and a treat!
Term 1 Assemblies (Led by Year 6 Leaders)
Assemblies are a wonderful way to see how capable your children are at public speaking and presenting. We are proud of our Leadership and Student Representative Council Programs. Please join us for the following assembly this term in St Roch’s Hall.
Come along on Friday, 28 March 2.40pm for our second assembly where our Year 5 students will showcase their learning.
Parent Learning Conversations
Thank you to all parents for making the time to attend the Parent/Teacher Learning Conversations.
Our school works with you in educating your child. The partnership between you and the school, especially your child’s teachers, is crucial to ensuring that your child has the best opportunities to enjoy the school experience and learn effectively.
As a parent/carer/guardian, you can contribute your own knowledge and skills at all levels to assist your child’s learning, support our school’s goals and promoting the principles of Catholic education and St Roch's Vision to develop students of the future who will make a difference in the world.
Open Tours
It was wonderful to see so many prospective and current parents attend our Open Evening last Tuesday. Our Year 6 School Captains and Vice Captains were an absolute delight. Ethan, Kora, William and Grace showcased our school again in the most responsible and informative way. We were thrilled to be able to promote the wonderful activities, learning and facilities that occur at St Roch's.

Showcasing our school is a wonderful way to share what happens at St Roch's with our Year 6 Leaders. We always love having current parents at our Open Tours as well. Please let us know if you are interested in supporting these tours. For those parents with siblings beginning Prep in 2026, please come along to one of the next tours with your child. We are currently taking enrolments for 2026 and 2027. Please register via our website or the QR Code.
Parent Session: Managing Big Feelings
Thursday 6 March at 7.30pm webinar
As a follow up to our Starting School presentation with Carley in 2024, we are pleased to be able to offer another presentation with Carley McGauran, the Managing Big Feelings webinar.
The content is tailored to parents/carers with lower primary school-aged children. Parents with Preschoolers may find the information helpful as well.

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
Wednesday, 12 March – Monday, 24 March 2025
Please note that NAPLAN Opens on 12 March 2025 and closes on 24 March for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. The Practice Tests went very well today.
Restorative Practices in Schools A Parent & Carer Seminar
Thursday 27 March 6.00pm in St Roch's Hall
There are many ways in which parents,carers,guardians, grandparents and schools can work together to improve the educational experience and outcomes for their children.
Parents have a particularly important part to play in our educating community, and we welcome your support in so many ways. We are providing another opportunity for families to attend a seminar that supports the wellbeing of your children. Please take some time to read about Kristy Elliot who will be delivering this upcoming seminar on Thursday 27 March at 6.00pm onsite in our hall. Please look out for an Operoo form to RSVP.
Swimming Program Term 1
Our Swimming Program for Years 1 to 5 commences on 24 March and continues on 25, 26, 27, 31 March and 1, 2 and 3 April this term. Such an important component of Physical Education and Health coordinated by Marjie King.
Parent Helpers Training
Monday 24 March 9.15 - 10.00am
You are invited to attend the 2025 Classroom Helpers’ Training Program which will be held on Monday 24 March from 9.15 - 10am. Enter via the Reception.
After completing the training, you will be able to assist in your child’s classroom. Those who have attended the training program in previous years are not required to attend.
The program will also familiarise you with the structures and organisation of English and Mathematics lessons and provide you with information on how English and Mathematics are taught at St Rochs. This program is open to all parents, grandparents and carers of children in Prep to Year 6. Please RSVP via Office if you can attend as soon as possible. office@srgleniris.catholic.edu.au

Thought & Prayers
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Strauss family, on the passing of Christian's grandmother in Germany (Charlotte in Year 3, Kellie, Nate & Cleo).
We also offer our condolences to the Cheang family. Will's grandmother also passed away recently (Amelie in Year 1, Sally & Eloise).
May your memories of these women, give you comfort at this time.
Preps Full Week
We look forward to having our Prep students at school with us for the whole week. Congratulations to Alex, our families and our students!
