Science

The Berwick College Science Department has kicked off the year with energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of hands-on learning! From our dedicated VCE students striving to challenge and extend themselves, to our eager year 7s settling into the lab for the first time, it's been an exciting start for all.
Our year 7 students have been busy earning their Bunsen burner licenses, mastering the skills needed to safely handle flames and equipment in the lab. Meanwhile, our High Achievers' Program (HAP) students have been learning to think like scientists—carefully observing and questioning the fascinating properties of bubbles.
In VCE, our year 12 Biology students recently conducted a gel electrophoresis experiment, running a DNA test to predict the traits of labradoodle puppies! This hands-on experience gave them insight into real-world genetic analysis and biotechnology.
With so many engaging activities already underway, 2025 promises to be a fantastic year of discovery, investigation and scientific curiosity. We look forward to sharing more of our students’ achievements as the year unfolds!
Stay curious, keep experimenting and let’s make this a year of scientific success!
