2025 Swimming Sports

On Thursday the 20th of February we held our 2025 Swimming Carnival. The day was filled with many smiles, laughs and the weather was lovely. We had many students participate and who qualified to progress to the next level of swimming competition.

Our lovely senior students cooked up a delicious BBQ and provided cold refreshing drinks and sweets.

At the end of the day Tarra House took home the win - great work Tarra!

Our Year 9 students explored how bloodstain analysis can be used to interpret what has happened at a crime scene. They worked in small groups and once the practical component was completed, they followed up with their results on a worksheet.

9 Outdoor Education Surfing excursion

It was a balmy 25 degrees as the Outdoor Ed students rolled into school at the start of the day with an air of excitement and jittery anticipation. We loaded into the vehicles and started our journey to beautiful Cape Conran. The drive was filled with chatter and a wide variety of music blaring through the speakers, getting us pumped up for some big barrels.

Stepping out onto East Cape beach to stunning blue skies and a temperature creeping towards the 30's, we started to get kitted up with some flattering wetsuits and big surfboards.

The group split into two as half started to learn surfing basics before hitting the water, while the others played some beach cricket, frisbee and explored the surrounding environment.

Given it was the first time surfing for the majority of the students, we had some great success. Many students were demonstrating their 'one-knee Noni', while others progressed to 'two-foot Tony' and some even aspired to be in a 'barrel Darryl'.

A ripper day was had by all, the weather turned it on and so did the students. Excellent participation and good vibes all round!

NAPLAN

NAPLAN 2025: Key Information

Preparation for NAPLAN 2025 is well underway. NAPLAN is a series of assessments for all Year 7 and 9 students across Australia, designed to monitor student progress in literacy and numeracy. It is not a pass-or-fail test but provides valuable insights into student growth, curriculum effectiveness, and the quality of teaching and learning at our College.

This year NAPLAN will take place in Term 1, from Wednesday 12th March to Monday 24th March 2025.

While participation is expected, parents and carers have the option to withdraw their child from NAPLAN testing for religious, philosophical, or educational reasons. If you are considering withdrawal, please contact the College as soon as possible to discuss the process and complete the necessary paperwork.

For more information, parents and carers can refer to the attached brochure or visit the official NAPLAN website:
