Make Connections, Think Deeply, Engage with Learning!

Exciting Upgrades in Our Library Spaces!
We’re thrilled to announce the introduction of new media units in both the Technology Room and the Seminar Room—designed to enhance student learning through dynamic, interactive experiences. These spaces are being transformed with modern, flexible furniture that promotes collaboration, communication, and connection.
As part of our commitment to student wellbeing, these updated environments will also support targeted wellbeing programs, creating inclusive spaces where students can thrive both academically and personally.
Training and Development – Leadership Opportunity
Thank you to everyone who applied for the junior library monitor positions this term. We would like to congratulate the following students who have been selected for training: Samiha S, Chinmay R, Sharika Z, Ariana F, Zoe R, Tafida K, Olivia F, Subhana H, Aliza S, Satsuki M
Library monitor training will equip students with the skills to support daily operations and foster a welcoming environment. Training includes orientation to library spaces, use of technology, circulation desk procedures, and shelving techniques. Monitors will also develop customer service, teamwork, and communication skills, while playing an active role in supporting wellbeing initiatives.
Fostering a Love of Reading
Our library continues to champion a culture of reading by offering a range of engaging initiatives designed to spark curiosity and imagination. From curated book displays and themed reading challenges to a new lunchtime book club, students are encouraged to explore new genres and develop a lifelong love of reading. Staff also support students in finding books that match their interests and reading levels, helping to build confidence and enjoyment. These efforts not only enhance literacy skills but also promote empathy, creativity, and wellbeing through the power of stories.
Information Literacy Lessons – Semester 1 Recap
Throughout Semester 1, our library has been proud to offer a series of Information Literacy Lessons designed to empower students with essential research and critical thinking skills. These sessions have covered a wide range of topics, including how to effectively search academic databases, evaluate sources for credibility, avoid plagiarism, and cite references correctly using various citation styles.
Students have engaged in hands-on activities and real-world scenarios to build confidence in navigating both digital and print resources. Whether it was learning how to refine search strategies or understanding the importance of academic integrity, participants walked away with practical tools to support their studies and lifelong learning.
Library Displays
Ramadan Good Deeds Display In alignment with the Quality Learning Behaviour Curriculum (QLBC), the library celebrated Ramadan by encouraging all students to commit to doing ‘Good Deeds’ throughout the holy month. The display highlighted the values of kindness, generosity, and reflection, inviting students of all backgrounds to participate in acts of goodwill and community spirit.
International Women’s Day
Strength and Resilience Our International Women’s Day display honoured the strength, resilience, and achievements of women throughout history and across the globe. Students explored stories of trailblazing women and reflected on the importance of gender equality. As part of the celebration, students created bracelets symbolising unity and empowerment, reinforcing the message that together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable world.
Easter
Celebration and Reflection the Easter display provided students with insights into the meaning and traditions of Easter, focusing on themes of renewal, hope, and compassion. To celebrate the occasion, every student who borrowed a book on a designated day received a small Easter egg, adding a festive and joyful touch to their reading experience.
Reconciliation Week
Acknowledging the Past, Walking Together Our Reconciliation Week display complemented the powerful presentations delivered by home groups and on assembly, which focused on truth-telling, respect, and the journey toward reconciliation. The display featured stories, artwork, and messages that encouraged students to reflect on Australia’s shared history and the importance of building respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
World Environment Day – #BeatPlasticPollution
To mark World Environment Day, the library featured a striking whale-themed display centered around the global campaign to #BeatPlasticPollution. The display educated students on the impact of plastic waste on marine life and the environment, while also offering practical examples of pledges students could make to reduce their plastic use and protect our planet.
Recreational and Wellbeing Activities (Semester 2) – A place to connect, think deeply and engage with learning.
Our Craft Club meets every Wednesday afternoon in Seminar Room 1 at lunchtime.
Whether you're a seasoned DIYer or just looking to try something new, join us for fun, hands-on projects like paper crafts, seasonal decorations, and more. All materials are provided, and everyone is welcome.
If you love yarn and good conversation, the Crochet Club is the place to be. We gather every Tuesday and Friday at lunchtime in Seminar Room 1. Bring your own project or start something new with our supplies. It’s a great way to learn new techniques, share ideas, and relax with fellow crochet enthusiasts.
Need a midweek reset?
Join us for Mindful Moments every Wednesday at lunchtime in the WellBeing Hub (former Technology room). These 30-minute sessions offer guided breathing exercises, light stretching, and journaling prompts to help you slow down and recharge. No prior experience is needed—just bring yourself and a willingness to unwind.
We’re also excited to launch our brand-new Manga Book Club, meeting on the first Friday of each month at lunchtime in the WellBeing Hub. This club is perfect for Manga lovers who want to explore new series and connect with fellow fans. Come along and help select our first book and get ready to dive in!
