The Show Awaits by Alanna S

On 20th March 2025, the Beverly Hills Girls High School (BHGHS) choir performed as part of a choir of over 2,000 people at Ken Rosewall Arena.  Tickets vanished quickly as schools across NSW took the stage with powerful performances in singing, dancing, acting, and storytelling.

Pulse Alive is a performing arts concert that takes place every year, featuring a large number of students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Each year, the concert has a different theme with a unique set of songs. Students spend their time rehearsing these pieces before the big performance.

For this year's performance, the students performed a big piece based on old fashioned music called "Disco Medley". It included over three songs combined into one exciting piece. There were also other classic songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, Can You Feel it and Dancing In The Street.

Some of these songs can include dancers, the drama ensemble, the circus ensemble and other cast performers.

Some of the students and teachers from BHGHS who participated in the event were interviewed about their experiences of the event. Aneeqa C, a Year 7 student, who is an individual dancer who performed in many pieces, said that her favourite part of performing in Pulse Alive was meeting new people and levelling up her skills in dance. She was very inspired by many dancers when she first performed in Pulse Alive as part of the mass choir.

A Year 12 student, Thato M, a featured vocalist who performed the lead part in many of the songs and was supported by the 2000 strong choir.  She said her favourite part of the night was "working with the best tutors". She said she gained a "valuable performing experience and made lifelong friendships". She also said that it 'felt surreal' and that she 'never thought she was a good enough singer to be part of something big like that and I felt so excited to make friends, gain experience and do something I truly love doing which is performing." These students shared how Pulse Alive brought them closer together and gave them a chance to shine. They say it was super fun and a memory they'll never forget.

Future plans for the Pulse Alive 2026 event will include an extra performance, bringing the total to three shows. Pulse Alive has become a major and exciting event ever since 2022/2023 and it's fascinating to see how it continues to evolve and improve each year. With new themes, more student involvement, and bigger audiences, its clear that Pulse Alive is growing into one of the most anticipated school events in NSW.
