Acknowledgement of Country

The Bulbuwul Sisters, fellow students and staff of Beverly Hills Girls High School would like to pay respects to the First Nations of this land, the Bediagal people of the Eora Nation. We care for and respect Bediagal plants, animals, land, sky and waterways as we take responsibility for this land and carry that spirit, so that we too can care for this special place.
We acknowledge that the ancestral women of the Bediagal people traditionally fished the great Tucoerah River in Nawi’s to care and provide for their family. Women who loved and cared for this Bediagal country as it thrived for tens of thousands of years; our expectation is that we too will care for their land.
We would like to acknowledge the Elders of the past, present and future who hold onto the knowledge of their history and culture in order to guide our understanding of the land in which we meet on today. We are thankful for and recognise this resilient continuing culture that upholds the spirit of our nation.
We are proud, strong, resilient young women who can do anything and believe that this always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
