A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Camps and Excursions
Last week, our Senior students experienced a wonderful three day camp at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. When talking to the students, some of the highlights they listed were gold panning, bowling the old fashioned way, the raspberry drop lollies and spending time with friends in the cabins. A huge thank you to all the staff and parents who organised and attended the camp, and supported our Senior students to have such a memorable time.
This Wednesday, our Foundation students are heading off on their first school excursion. They will be travelling by bus to the Museum of Play and Art (MoPA) in Thomastown, where they will experience sensory, immersive, play-based activities with their classmates. We are looking forward to hearing all about their MoPA adventures!
Upcoming Staff Conference
The BNWPS Staff Conference is fast approaching. The theme for this year’s conference is Teaching the Child in Front of You. On Thursday 27th and Friday 28th March, staff will be exploring their image of the child through the lens of brain science. They will be discovering how different brain types learn and the tier 1 strategies they can use to support these brains. We look forward to sharing more details and reflections from the conference in upcoming newsletters and Education Subcommittee meetings.
A reminder that students are not required at school on these days. OSHC is available for any families who may require the service on these days.
NAPLAN Sessions
NAPLAN sessions continue this week for our Year Five students and those who will be sitting a NAPLAN catch-up session. The table below outlines the days on which each of the assessments will be happening. If you have any questions about your child sitting NAPLAN, please talk with their classroom teacher.
