Buildings & Grounds Update

New Water Bubblers and Taps – Keeping Our Students Hydrated!
If you’ve been around the school grounds this week, you may have noticed two brand-new Civiq Aquafill water troughs! These fantastic new additions provide both drinking fountains and taps with a shelf, making it easier than ever for students to refill their water bottles throughout the day. Staying hydrated is essential for concentration, learning, and overall wellbeing, and these new bubblers replace our old, worn-out troughs to better support our students.
A third trough will be installed next week on the basketball court, ensuring even more access to fresh water during playtimes and sports.
These upgrades were made possible thanks to our incredible school community—funds raised from last year’s Parent Trivia Night and Walkathon went directly towards purchasing these much-needed facilities. A huge thank you to all families for your generosity—every student will benefit from these fantastic new water stations!
Thank You to Our Amazing Working Bee Volunteers!
A huge thank you to the parents, carers, and staff members who came along to our after-school Working Bee last Thursday, 6th March. The evening was a fantastic success, and thanks to our incredible volunteers, we were able to tick off a long list of much-needed jobs in the garden. Weeding, tidying, and refilling garden beds with fresh soil has given our school grounds a real boost.
We also tackled some much-needed pruning, cutting back the rapidly growing palms along the back fence that had started encroaching on our bike racks and even the Year 6 classrooms! Your hard work and dedication help make our school a beautiful and welcoming place for everyone. Thank you for giving your time and energy—we couldn’t have done it without you!
Building Works Update – Nearing Completion!
Exciting progress is being made on our new Art Room, Kitchen Dining Room, and Quiet Area! Over the weekend, the Quiet Area was concreted, and the new storm drain systems have been installed. Inside, the structural work and flooring in the Kitchen and Art Room are complete, with painting now underway.
This week, we anticipate the installation of flooring and new carpentry, which will allow us to start moving furniture and equipment back in. This also means that the shipping containers, which have been an unlovely feature of our school for far too long, will finally be going! The final stage will be the installation of cabinetry and new appliances, bringing these incredible spaces to life.
We’ve been advised that all works should be completed by the end of the Easter holidays, meaning that when Term 2 begins, these new spaces will be fully operational and ready for our students to enjoy. Thank you for your patience and support as we bring these fantastic new facilities to life!
A Vision for the Future – Our Buildings and Grounds Masterplan
While we are incredibly proud of our school buildings and grounds and the ongoing work that goes into maintaining and improving them, we also know that in an ideal world, there are some big-picture projects we’d love to bring to life. One of the most significant challenges we face is our lack of a school hall or gymnasium, which can make hosting assemblies, school events, and PE lessons difficult at times.
This year, our Buildings and Grounds (BAGS) subcommittee will be engaging the community and professional expertise to develop a Masterplan—a visionary blueprint for how our school buildings and outdoor spaces could evolve to provide the very best facilities for our students, staff, and families. Once this plan is in place, we will be able to share it with our school community, as well as with key decision-makers at the state and federal levels, to begin the journey towards major capital works that will shape the future of St Kilda Park Primary.
If you are keen to get involved with this work then please attend our next Buildings and Grounds sub-committee meeting on Wednesday 30th April at 6pm in the staffroom look forward to sharing more details as this exciting project unfolds!.
