STEM Experiment – Elephant’s Toothpaste!
Over the past few weeks, our Year 3–6 students have been diving into the exciting world of chemical reactions with an experiment called Elephant’s Toothpaste!
With guidance from Tom, students combined hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing detergent, food colouring, and yeast to create an incredible explosion of colourful foam. After observing the reaction, they brainstormed ways to make an even bigger and more powerful eruption for the following week.
By adjusting the solution strength and ingredients, students successfully created immense explosions—some even shooting 10 meters into the air! This hands-on experiment not only demonstrated the power of chemical reactions but also encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
A huge well done to all the budding scientists involved!
