House Athletics Carnival 2025

The Year 3 to 6 House Athletics is always a busy day with every student participating in high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, 100m sprint, 200m sprint and 800m.  Early next term, students will also be given the opportunity to compete in the 1500m and 80m hurdles which will be conducted on the Vermont Reserve.

After a long and competitive day of competition, only 32 points separated 1st and 2nd with Terrara eventually being crowned this year’s House Athletics Champions.

The results from the day are as follows:

1st       Terrara          408 points

2nd      Cantley         376 points

3rd      Nurlendi       323 points

4th      Canterbury    318 points

Once again, the highlight of this year’s athletics carnival was the running of the teacher and student 4 x 100m relay during the lunch break.  It was an extremely competitive race with the teachers managing to hold off a fast-finishing student team.  I would like to thank our wonderful staff and parent community for making this fun event possible.

Hoop Time

This year Vermont Primary School will be competing in Hoop Time with over 100 students expressing their interest in participating. Hoop Time brings together school students from across Victoria to compete in a single day round robin basketball tournament held at local basketball stadiums.

The Hoop Time program offers students in Grade 3 and 4 (junior) and Grade 5 and 6 (senior) the opportunity to play basketball in a fun competition with qualified referees. The program culminates at the end of each year with Regional Finals and a State Grand Final Day.

The Year 3 and 4 participating students will be competing on Monday the 19th of May at the State Basketball Centre and the Year 5 and 6 participating students will be competing on Wednesday the 4th of June also at the State Basketball Centre.
