Year 5

Congratulations!

Well done to all Year 5 students for the positive way they have completed the Literacy component of their NAPLAN assessments. A special thanks to Mr Webb for his organisation and Mrs Strachan for the extra support provided.

In week 8, on Monday 17th March, the students will complete the Numeracy assessment.  If your child was away they will be given opportunities to make up any assessments they missed.

Buddies

On Thursday 20th February, the Year 5 students had their first Buddy session with the Year One students. We were very proud of the caring and friendly way in which the Year 5s worked with their Year 1 buddy to create a 'getting to know you' paper chain.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day is being celebrated at Vermont Primary School on Thursday 20th March. The day will include a special assembly starting at 9:10am in the Stadium at which the students are invited to dress up in clothes from either their own or another culture. Alternatively, students can also choose to wear ORANGE, which is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week.

The students will also participate in some Harmony Day activities, including learning about and constructing a "Jeepney" - a popular mode of transport unique to the Philippines, with one of our wonderful Year Five parents.

Scienceworks Excursion

On Thursday 27th March, the Year 5s will be travelling to Scienceworks for an excursion, supporting the learning we are doing in our Science Unit this term - Planets in our Solar System and their properties. Payment for this excursion is now being accepted through Compass and is due no later than Monday 24th March. If you know that your child will not be available to attend this excursion, could you please email your child's teacher as soon as possible, and decline the event on Compass.
