Humanities Update

At Vermont Primary School, we are excited to launch our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), a powerful step toward strengthening our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This plan opens up new opportunities for First Nations peoples in our classrooms and beyond, and fosters meaningful connections with elders and traditional owners in our school and community.

Some of the important actions we will take toward reconciliation in 2025 include: Celebrating days of national significance, exploring current affairs, and proudly demonstrate our care for the land on which our school stands. Our Welcome to Country at assemblies will be a moment of deep respect, honouring the rich traditions and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, alongside flying the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags each day.

We are committed to weaving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures throughout our curriculum at all year levels, while raising awareness of racism and its impact. Whole-school teacher professional development will ensure we are all part of this important journey.

We invite you to celebrate with us as we demonstrate our respect, commitment, and pride in First Nations peoples, cultures, and histories. Well done Vermont Primary School on completing and committing to your first Reconciliation Action Plan!
