Welcome to this fortnight's newsletter, and what a busy few weeks we have had! Our Year 6s have been away on camp this week, and it has been great to hear about the experiences they have been having. The theme of their camp was 'Building Resilience' and the students have most certainly showed this. Camps are always a brilliant way for students to connect with their peers and teachers, and are an opportunity for these young people to practice their independence. Well done to everyone involved in the camp! Thank you to the teachers who attended camp to provide this amazing experience to our students!!
Our Colour Run is next Friday and we can't wait for it! Please see the below flier with important information, as well as the Compass post today with a link to sign up to help/be part of the day.
A reminder that the fundraising link is still open for another two weeks. Go to www.myprofilepage.com.au to sign up, start fundraising to help our school create a Sensory Space and win some awesome prizes!
Congratulations to the Year 3 and 5 students who commenced NAPLAN this week. The students were well prepared and managed the test conditions well. So far our students have completed: Writing, Reading, and Conventions of Language. NAPLAN continues next week. We look forward to the results of the test as it will show what the school is doing well and what the school needs to focus on.
Thank you to Lisa Shoebridge and Damon Webb for organising the school for the assessments and the year 3 and 5 teachers for facilitating them.
We have had to make a slight change to one of our proposed Curriculum Days in Term 3. We had scheduled Friday September 12 as a Curriculum Day, but due to the Year 5/6 Interschool Sport carnival being on that day, we would like to move it to Friday 19. This is the last day of Term 3, meaning that students now finish the term on Thursday 18 of September. OSHC will be available on this day for people who need it.
A reminder that our other Curriculum Days are -
Term One ‘Getting to Know You/Academic Meetings’ will be held Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th of March. The teachers will be setting their own availability within the window of 8am through to 8pm on these two allocated nights.
To book you will need to access COMPASS. This process will be open from Monday 17th March from 9am to Friday 21st March, closing at 5pm. The purpose of holding the meetings towards the end of term, rather than the beginning is to provide you with a more consistent timeline of feedback throughout the year to keep you informed of your child’s progress. At these interviews, you will have the opportunity to discuss how your child is progressing academically, socially and behaviourally. You will also have the opportunity to update the teacher on any changes or anything that would affect you child at school.
A reminder will be sent out via COMPASS when the booking process opens. If you cannot attend these days, please contact your child's classroom teacher.
