Year 5/6

Hello from the 5/6 team!

Students have been working hard on many projects and activities across the curriculum, extending their skills and curiosity.

During Unit of Work students have been reflecting on their values and what actions they would like to take in the community. They are applying their knowledge of the houses of Parliament to creating their own original Political Parties. Students' passions and interest in promoting the Arts, Transport and Education have been on show through their careful reflections and teamwork. Watch this space - an election is coming your way early Term 2!

Students have also shown leadership through Foundation Buddy Reading, making connections with junior students and helping more Foundation students feel connected to the Senior year levels.

Countdown to camp:

Our Portsea Camp is from Monday the 11th to Wednesday the 13th of May. Forms for camp will come out next week so stay tuned! Please get in touch with Ellie if you have any questions.

How you can support your child at home:

In Maths, students are working on building their multiplication and division skills. Students can apply this in daily life when considering division as sharing between groups (portions or ingredients of a meal, sharing toys or supplies).

For Italian Word Knowledge, students can use Memrise (free program, no need to use paid edition) to hear and view Italian in context. Some students may have used their school email to create an account!

Lastly, students can listen to Italian podcasts to maintain and boost their listening skills. Here is an article with some recommendations!
