Dear CJC community,
Term 2
The second term has commenced very smoothly, and our students have all returned to learning, well rested and very excited to catch up with their friends and classmates.
Union industrial actions The Australian Education Union (AEU) is undertaking a further series of protected industrial actions. We are working closely with our AEU representatives to understand the implications for our school and to minimise disruption wherever possible, with student learning and wellbeing remaining our priority. There will be some key areas that directly impact school operations and school families.
Student Reports There is a ban on writing individual comments for student reports.
Students will still receive a report at the end of Term 2, which will include a subject descriptor and your child’s progression point for each subject. However, personalised comments reflecting your child’s academic and social/emotional development will not be included.
Parent Teacher Interviews will proceed as planned at the end of the term and will provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress in more detail.
Half Day Strike Action – 21 May On Wednesday 21 May, teachers will participate in a half-day stop work action.
We are sharing this date early so families can begin to make alternative arrangements if needed. On this day, the school will operate a limited supervisory program, and the delivery of the usual teaching and learning program will be significantly impacted.
At this stage, the proposed strike will occur in the morning.
We will provide further details as they become available.

ANZAC Day Commemoration
This morning we assembled as a school community at the Cenotaph in Caulfield Park to commemorate ANZAC Day 2026. This important event is scheduled each year on April 25th and recognises the spirit of all those who have and continue to serve our country and sacrifices made by our service people across the years and around the world. As a community these are important days and we can be very proud of the reverence, respect and empathy shown by our staff, families and the students.
Invitation for Students to Represent CJC at the ANZAC Day Ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance - 25 April
We are seeking expressions of interest from students who would like to represent CJC at the Melbourne ANZAC Day ceremony on 25 April, alongside the Association des anciens combattants français de Victoria. We are looking for four students to assist in holding the commemorative banner, providing a meaningful opportunity to honour service members and represent our school community. Students will meet at 9:30 am outside Flinders Street Station, with the ceremony concluding around 12:30–1:00 pm and must attend in full school uniform. Please note that parents are required to accompany their child and remain with them for the duration of the event, and that students may be photographed and filmed. Families interested in participating are encouraged to contact Mme Pommier.
How to Support your Child Reading at Home - Training with Mme Bokobza
On Wednesday morning, it was great to see many parents coming to attend the session on how to Support your Child Reading at Home, with Mme Bokobza, our Enrichment team leader. She offered various strategies to support your child’s reading’s journey. All Prep parents should have received the PowerPoint presentation. If your child is in another grade and you would like to access the document, please contact Mme Bokobza via Compass.
Grade 5/6 Camp
Planning for the Year 5 and 6 camp is well underway and our students will be leaving for a 3-day camp at the Ranch Camp on Monday 18 May. Families needing information regarding this important school event should contact their class teacher directly.
Year 7 Transition
Year 6 students will soon receive their forms to transition into the new secondary school for 2027. This process is run by our secondary colleges, and all students need to indicate a preferred destination for the 2027 school year.
Staff Wellbeing: Yoga Sessions Begin
Our new staff yoga program began on Wednesday, 22 April, offering a calm and positive start to the day. Held weekly from 7:45 am to 8:30 am, the sessions focus on gentle movement and mindfulness in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Led by Alex, the sessions also include a bilingual element, with instructions in French and opportunities for informal conversation, helping staff build both wellbeing and language skills. The first session was a great success, bringing staff together and reinforcing our commitment to a supportive and connected school community.
Prep 2027 Enrolments
This week we commenced the online new enrolment platform called Insight. Our administration team has been working behind the scenes to define the new approach and adjust our timelines and processes to best reflect this new DET driven program.
Applications are now open for Preps starting in 2027 and the portal will close on Friday July 31. For more information about enrolments, please visit our school website.

Deuxième trimestre
Le deuxième trimestre a très bien démarré, et nos élèves sont tous revenus à l’école bien reposés et très enthousiastes à l'idée de retrouver leurs amis et camarades.
Actions syndicales L'Australian Education Union (AEU) mène une nouvelle série d'actions industrielles protégées. Nous travaillons en étroite collaboration avec nos représentants de l'AEU pour comprendre les implications pour notre école et minimiser les perturbations autant que possible, l'apprentissage. Le bien-être des élèves demeure notre priorité. Il y aura des domaines clés qui auront un impact direct sur les opérations scolaires et les familles de la communauté scolaire.
Bulletins d'élèves Dans le cadre des actions syndicales, est interdit de rédiger des commentaires individuels pour les bulletins d’élèves.
Les familles recevront quand même un bulletin à la fin du deuxième trimestre, qui inclura un descripteur de matière et la pastille de progression de votre enfant pour chaque matière. Cependant, les commentaires personnalisés reflétant le développement académique et social/émotionnel de votre enfant ne seront pas inclus.
Les entretiens parents-professeurs se dérouleront comme prévu à la fin du trimestre et offriront une occasion importante de discuter plus en détail des progrès de votre enfant.
Action de grève d'une demi-journée – 21 mai Le mercredi 21 mai, les enseignants participeront à une action d'arrêt de travail d'une demi-journée.
Nous partageons cette date plus tôt afin que les familles puissent commencer à prendre des dispositions alternatives si nécessaire. Ce jour-là, l'école fonctionnera avec un programme de supervision limité, et la prestation du programme d'enseignement et d'apprentissage habituel sera fortement impactée.
À ce stade, la grève proposée aura lieu le matin.

Commémoration du jour de l'ANZAC
Ce matin, nous nous sommes réunis en communauté scolaire au Cénotaphe de Caulfield Park pour commémorer le Jour de l’ANZAC 2026. Cet événement important a lieu chaque année le 25 avril et reconnaît l'esprit de tous ceux qui ont servi et continuent de servir notre pays ainsi que les sacrifices consentis par nos militaires au fil des années et dans le monde. En tant que communauté, il s’agit une importante commémoration. Nous sommes très fiers du respect et de l'empathie témoignés par notre personnel, nos familles et nos élèves lors de l’assemblée spéciale.

Comment aider votre enfant à lire à la maison - formation avec Mme Bokobza
Mercredi dernier, c'était un plaisir de voir de nombreux parents venir assister à la session sur la façon de soutenir votre enfant à lire à la maison, avec Mme Bokobza, notre responsable du programme d’Enrichissement. Elle a proposé différentes stratégies pour soutenir le parcours de lecture de votre enfant. Tous les parents de Grande Section ont reçu la présentation PowerPoint. Si votre enfant est dans une autre classe et que vous souhaitez accéder au document, veuillez contacter Mme Bokobza via Compass.
Camp de 5e/6e année
La préparation de la semaine verte de CM2 et 6e année est bien avancée et nos élèves partiront pour un camp de 3 jours au Ranch Camp le lundi 18 mai prochain. Les familles ayant besoin d'informations concernant cet événement scolaire important doivent contacter directement leur enseignant de classe.
Transition de la 7e année
Les élèves de 6e recevront bientôt leur formulaire pour intégrer le nouveau lycée en 2027. Ce processus est géré par nos écoles secondaires, et tous les élèves doivent indiquer leur école de premier choix pour l'année scolaire 2027.
Bien-être du personnel : séances de yoga
Notre nouveau programme de yoga pour le personnel de CJC a débuté le mercredi 22 avril, offrant un début de journée calme et positif. Organisées chaque semaine de 7h45 à 8h30, les séances mettent l'accent sur des mouvements doux et la pleine conscience dans un environnement détendu et accueillant. Animées par Alex, les séances incluent également un élément bilingue, avec des instructions en français et des opportunités de conversation informelle, aidant le personnel à développer à la fois le bien-être et les compétences linguistiques. La première séance a été un grand succès, unifiant le personnel et renforçant notre engagement envers une communauté scolaire solidaire et connectée.
Inscriptions des élèves de grande section 2027
Cette semaine, nous avons lancé la nouvelle plateforme d'inscription en ligne appelée Insight. Notre équipe d'administration travaille en coulisses pour définir la nouvelle approche et ajuster nos délais et processus afin de mieux refléter ce nouveau programme piloté par le DET.
Le portail est maintenant ouvert pour les demandes d’inscription pour les élèves qui commenceront en grande section en 2027, le portail fermera le vendredi 31 juillet. Pour plus d'informations sur les inscriptions, veuillez consulter le site web de notre école.
