News from Visual Arts

Our Year 5/6 students recently took on a creative and challenging design project, transforming recycled boxes into unique shoes. The focus was on exploring the characteristics and techniques of cardboard construction, including rolling, folding, cutting, and shaping.

Students approached the task in different ways—some aimed to create realistic shoe designs, while others embraced their imagination to produce inventive and original creations. Many students also demonstrated strong visual thinking by carefully arranging colours and images from the recycled materials to enhance their designs.

Well done to all our Year 5/6 students for their creativity, effort, and problem-solving throughout this tricky project!

At Caulfield Primary School, a choir (Years 3–6) and a taiko drumming club (Year 6) are offered during lunchtime. Both groups are open to students in the relevant year levels who wish to participate. Through weekly 25-minute rehearsals, students work collaboratively to prepare performances for both school and community events, developing teamwork and performance skills.

The first performance of the year will be held on Sunday, 24 May at the Box Hill Japan Festival. This well-established annual event, held at the Box Hill Town Hall, celebrates Japanese culture through a range of performances, cultural presentations, and a wide variety of food and market stalls. It is a vibrant and popular festival that attracts many visitors each year.

Families and community members are warmly invited to attend and support our students. Our performance is scheduled for 10:35 am. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
