Parents' and Carers' Association
The Mitcham Primary School PCA met last Thursday for our first meeting of the term. It was a great meeting and we covered a lot of topics and shared lots of great ideas. The main points to communicate are listed below. Just a reminder that the PCA meet on the last Thursday of every month at 2:30. All are welcome to attend but if you are unable to do so please do not stress. Reach out to Erin, Bron, Laura or Beau if you would like to be a part of anything happening and we can definitely connect you with the right people.
Coffee Van for the Prep's first day, 2026:
The PCA would like to start an annual tradition for Parents and Carers of Prep students to have a coffee van on the first morning of prep. This way the parents can connect with another from day one and wash down their tears with a nice, warm beverage! Funds raised from Fundraising events would help pay for this event 🙂
Parent Helpers:
If you have a valid WWCC and have completed the parent training course, classrooms are looking for parent helpers to read with or to students or read and celebrate student writing. Please keep an eye out in the newsletter 🙂
Community Connection Afternoon
The PCA have planned for an afternoon get together for Mitcham Primary School families.
This is a low key event and will take place on the school oval immediately after school on Friday, August 29.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket, some snacks and any activities their children may enjoy with others.
This is one event planned but keep your eyes peeled for others as the year rolls on
Year Level Coordinators
The PCA talked about the success of Year-level coordinators and what we could potentially change next year which could include a slightly more "formal" process where parents ask to be considered for the role and then coordinators be announced via the newsletter and compass.
We thank this year's coordinators for the work they are already doing. There is lots of talk for parent social activities to take place, so please keep an eye out on your year level's WhatsApp group in case you would like to participate in any of the activities planned 🙂
Lost Property
A MASSIVE thank you to Renee Calder who has volunteered to take up the (unfortunately) massive task of returning Lost Property items to their owners. If you would like to assist Renee in this task, please reach out to your Year Level Coordinator - even if you can spare half an hour, that can make a big difference!
Love,
The PCA
