Boarding Bulletin

Mrs Kathryn Searle - Head of Boarding

This Friday, our College Chaplain Rev Yarrow and I will travel to Sydney for the annual Australian Education Awards. We have already been awarded with Excellence for Best School Strategic Plan and Boarding School of the Year. We’re hoping to bring home the title of best in Australia in both categories, stay tuned for updates!

Boarders’ Health

We continue to have a couple of boarders with cold symptoms which the Health Centre is managing. Hopefully this will come to an end with the weather warming up this week.

Medication

A reminder that no boarding student is to hold medication in their room.  This includes paracetamol, ibuprofen, cold and flu medication, antihistamine and vitamins. Any personal student medication will be named and held in the First Aid Room for dispensing as required.

Please note, we hold all the above medication in stock which will be dispensed by the School Nurse or appropriate boarding staff. Therefore, boarding students are not required to supply their own standard non-prescribed medication.

We have a very busy sporting weekend with athletics commencing on Friday night and BBI Basketball, and QGSSSA Winter Fixtures with netball and hockey being played at The University of Queensland, and tennis and volleyball on home ground.

When our students are in-house, our Student Hub is always full of activity, especially when baking is involved! Our boarders love getting creative in the kitchen, whipping up cookies, brownies, and so much more!

With so many cultures represented in our Boarding House, it’s always a joy to see students sharing recipes from home. Last weekend, our international students led a delicious dumpling-making session, a true highlight that brought everyone together through food and fun!
