A reminder that the College will be closed for the EKKA Show Holiday in Brisbane, next Wednesday 13 August.
Campbell House proudly hosted Jeans for Genes Day last Friday, bringing the College community together in a heartwarming display of denim, generosity, and House spirit. Students and staff wore their jeans in support of the Children’s Medical Research Institute, while the Campbell-led bake sale at lunch was a roaring success, raising hundreds of dollars for vital genetic research. The day was a vibrant celebration of unity and purpose, with spirit and kindness on full display across all Houses, as captured in the joyful photos below.

On Sunday, our College community came together once again for the On the Green event, featuring the incredible Kate Ceberano, whose performance added a magical touch to a memorable afternoon of music, connection, and celebration on the Clayfield College grounds. Well done, Clayfield!
Earlier this year, two of our students, Abbey Hinder and Tiana Miller (Year 10), were accepted into the newly launched pilot St John Youth Program, an exciting initiative that fosters leadership, first aid skills, and community service in young people.
Both students have been committed to weekly training sessions every Tuesday night. Their dedication paid off, as they were officially inducted into the program and proudly received their first badge last week.
Looking ahead, they are already working towards two more badges this semester and will soon begin accompanying senior St John officers at community events, an incredible opportunity for hands-on experience. Abbey has also been selected to attend the National St John Youth Camp in Sydney during the September holidays.
Congratulations to Abbey and Tiana. We are proud of you both for shining your lights out in the community.
Last week, our Chapel Captains, Sophie Carmichael and Caitlin Southwell, organised and ran a variety of activities around the theme ‘Connected at Heart’ to focus on the faith and spiritual life of our College. They designed a logo and this was displayed as a large chalk mural which covered the expanse of the Chapel Courtyard.
Primary students had the opportunity to have their face painted with a Christian symbol and many of them took part in the colouring-in competition which are now displayed in the Chapel. Both Primary School Chapel Services were fortunate to have Lynton Allan, a visual artist and storyteller from Melbourne share a story about God’s faithfulness and promise to always be with us. Two Primary classes were given the chalk drawings that Lynton drew as he told the stories.
Primary and Secondary students had lots of fun getting involved in a scavenger hunt following the clues to find bible verses hidden around the campus. A few super sleuth Year 7 students proved to be the champion hunters and claimed the prize.
Several of the Senior students spent time reading bible story books to Pre-Prep to Year 2 classes which was appreciated by both these young students and the Year 12s.
In Pastoral Care groups, Secondary students wrote sentences of hope or inspiration on heart-shaped post-it notes which were put together on posters to become the 'Hearts of Hope' message wall and displayed in the LRC walkway.
In Chapel services, Secondary students wrote prayers or messages of thanks and gratitude which were threaded on to twine to become ‘prayer bunting’ around the Main Veranda bordering the Chapel Courtyard. To conclude Faith Week, Secondary students enjoyed a slice of celebration cake with a reminder to look for the good and positive things that happen each day.
Thank you to our Chapel Captains and others who volunteered to assist in running the activities for Faith Week.
You can read more about Faith Week in this week's Captains' Corner section, as well as enjoy some images within the Photo Gallery.
‘Empathy in Action: Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.’
At Clayfield College, we believe in creating a community where everyone feels safe, valued and empowered. During Week 5, our Secondary School will join the national movement for Bullying No Way! with a special focus on the 2025 theme: 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.' This powerful theme reminds us that it takes courage to spark change and that bullying is everyone’s responsibility. At Clayfield, we're encouraging students to take meaningful action and show ‘Empathy in Action’ by standing up, reaching out and making a difference — both within and beyond our school gates.
Student Voice – Empowering Change
Leading into the week, students will receive a challenge via email to prepare their own creative response to the theme. Whether it’s a rap, poem, or performance — this is an opportunity for every student to be bold, be kind, and speak up.
What’s Happening During the Week?
During Wellbeing and Foundation classes across Years 7–12 students will also take part in a Belonging Activity to reinforce our collective responsibility to create a community of respect and inclusion.
Let’s make this a week of compassion, connection and courage. Together, we can ensure that Clayfield College is a place where everyone belongs, and where bullying has no place.

Head of Year 7
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students during school excursions, it is essential that any required medication is provided in a clear and organised format. For this reason, all student medications must be supplied in pharmacy-prepared blister packs. These packs must separate medication by day and dose, and each compartment should clearly display the student's name, the name of the medication, dosage instructions, and administration times.
This approach helps ensure accurate and timely administration while maintaining consistency with a student’s prescribed treatment plan, especially in off-site settings. Medications must be accompanied by any written directions from the prescribing specialist, including specific requirements such as timing in relation to meals or any storage conditions.
This process supports a safer and more efficient approach to managing medication during overnight school excursions. Parents and guardians are asked to organise blister packs in advance through their local pharmacy and ensure all required documentation, including medical forms and specialist instructions, are submitted to the school before the departure date. Information regarding medication submission, will be shared closer to each specific trip.
We understand that the organisation of medication requires a planned consultation period and therefore this new process will begin from 2026.
Thank you for helping us ensure the continuity of care for students and allowing staff to focus on supervision and support, knowing that medication is clearly organised and ready for safe use.
Should you have any questions about this, please reach out to Mrs Audrey Fellowes: afellowes@clayfield.qld.edu.au or the Health Centre: healthcentre@clayfield.qld.edu.au
