Principal's Report

Dear families,
As we near the end of week four, it is important to celebrate all that we have achieved this semester, including the Year 10 Pathways Immersion camp, a visit from Bishop Paul and the DOBCEL Board, the Year 9 Future Me program, various sporting competitions, subject selection evenings and tonight we celebrate the Presentation Ball with the Year 11 cohort.
And next week we begin a new part of our journey with the opening of Stage 1 of the refurbishments. The student Cafe, named ‘The Well’ will be a place of welcome, warmth and rest for all. The new Food technology kitchen is to industrial standard and will provide our students with a unique experience here in the Wimmera.
Currently we are planning for 2026 and next week I will determine the subjects that will be offered next year based on student choice and demand. We are also reviewing our wellbeing structure to ensure that our current homeroom system and Teacher Advisor program is best supporting our students.
The year 12s are in their final weeks of study before practice exams begin to ready them for the final exams. I encourage all parents and carers to check in with their young person and ask how they going, gently encouraging them to increase the effort level that they are bringing to their learning.
This week our emergency plans were tested when we had a visitor enter the grounds who had no current connection to the school and was experiencing mental health issues. It was pleasing to see that the training our staff had done ensured that there was a calm and protective response to the situation that ensured safety for all. I remind all parents that we have a sign in process for onsite visits and for this reason we cannot support students ordering Uber Eats or other food deliveries, due to the Child Safety Standards.
Stay safe and have a great weekend.
Gerard
