International Friendship Day
July 30 was International Friendship Day. To help celebrate, students were able to create friendship bracelets during lunch time. It was a great chance for students to work together, help others, and spend time talking and creating fun memories with their friends. It was wonderful to see so many students from all year levels participate in the activity. A big thank you to the Year 6 Student Voice and Environment Leaders who gave up their lunch time to run the bracelet making.
Prep News
Last Tuesday Preps celebrated 100 days of Prep. This day is always a highlight of the year and an opportunity to celebrate all the wonderful Prep achievements.
The Preps looked amazing in their costumes and it was great to see the school community and so many Parents and Grandparents cheering them on during the Parade. We celebrated with a party in the afternoon, including dancing, Limbo, and pinata. To quote Max in his Recount writing , "It was a fantastic, amazing and fun day".
Last Thursday the Prep students went on their first walking excursion together to the Maribyrnong River. This was a great way to explore our Inquiry Unit 'My Place'. The students were able to discuss our local environment and ways we can look after it as well as seeing some local birdlife in the wetlands. Thank you to the volunteer Parents who walked with us.
Year 3 Reconciliation Immersion Day
Last Thursday, our wonderful Year 3 students participated in an Immersion Day to prepare them for their upcoming Reconciliation. Whilst Reconciliation is a sacrament that will be received by those children who have been baptised Catholic, recognising the bad choices we make and seeking forgiveness is something that we all do when we want to mend our relationships with each other.
Through this immersion day, the students reflected and responded to the Gospel reading of The Prodigal Son. This parable reminds us that no matter how far we may stray, God’s love is constant and His arms are always open to welcome us back. It also invites us to show that same mercy and understanding to others, letting go of resentment and choosing forgiveness. In our lives today, The Prodigal Son encourages us to repair broken friendships, be humble enough to say sorry, and be generous in offering a second chance—just as God does for us.
A special thanks to our amazing Year 3 team, Mrs. Christian, Ms. Dacia, Miss Deanna and Mrs. Davidson for ensuring the students had a memorable experience on the Immersion day and their Enrichment day.
