Wellbeing Report

By Brooke McInnes,

Acting Assistant Principal LPPS.

Settling into the new term - Students have settled well into the routines of Term 3, with a calm and positive tone observed across the school. Teachers have used the start of the term to revisit and reinforce expected behaviours, ensuring consistency and a strong focus on learning. Classrooms feel settled, and students have responded well to the structure and expectations put in place.

Sarah Roney THRIVE sessions - Each term, Sarah Roney offers staff the opportunity to have her teach elements of the THRIVE curriculum in their classrooms. These sessions are tailored to focus on key areas we have identified as priorities, and this term they have once again been quickly booked out by staff. Sarah will be working with students on important topics including:

-              Communication (active listening and body language),

-              Dealing with Conflict (assertiveness training),

-              Bully Busting

-              Celebrating Individual Differences (with a focus on racism).

Keep an eye out on your child’s class compass page for more information on the content covered in their class

NAIDOC Week - As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we were fortunate to welcome back three of our past students who ran engaging sessions with some of our Foundation and Year 1 classes. During the interactive session, they read the book Welcome to Country and taught the students an Indigenous dance. It was a wonderful opportunity for our younger students to learn more about Aboriginal culture and traditions in a hands-on and meaningful way. The students were highly engaged and took a great deal from the experience.

Lining Up Expectations – This term we are focussing on Lining Up Expectations. The purpose behind the quiet, orderly line up is students showing us they are ready to learn and ensure they are entering in a calm and orderly way. These expectations will be across the entire school, including specialist classes. Please see below the expectations for lining up before school and after each break.
