Might Mary's update

There is so much enthusiasm around the use of the Mighty Mary tokens. It has been so wonderful to watch students celebrate their achievements, but also to witness the support that they are showing one another. They are genuinely excited for each other when they see someone achieve a full token board (10 tokens) and then this is transferred to House Points.

It looks like it's going to be a tight finish at the end of term. We will announce the winning house team on Friday 12th September, at our Week 8 Assembly so that they can begin to plan how they will celebrate in Week 9 before the holidays.

Then we will re-set the house points and start all over again in term 4. Student tokens however, will be carried over to next term.

Lunchtime Clubs and Teacher Spy

A reminder that we have a lunchtime club, facilitated by a staff member, every day except Friday for all students to attend. Lunchtime clubs are beneficial in supporting children's social skills and oral language. Many children love the predictability of routine and knowing what to do at lunch times can significantly reduce anxiety around what and who to play with.

Teacher Spy is also a fantastic game that students can play with the teacher on duty. It's really simple and fun - the kids hide from the teacher, but if they get "spied" they have to do 10 star jumps. This is always a great option when kids aren't sure who or what to play at break times.

Four Square

As many of you would know, Four Square is a very popular game at play times. Without many official rules, it can get very competitive and sometimes the students can take things a bit too seriously!

We are so lucky that our wonderful PE teacher, Mrs Kirkpatrick has organised a Four Square (Downball) incursion next week, on Thursday 11th Sept. Hopefully this will provide some guidelines around how to play so that everyone is aware of the rules.
