From The Principal Team

Dear Beaumaris Primary Families, 

Welcome back to Beaumaris Primary School! We’re looking forward to a fantastic year. It has been wonderful to see all of our students coming back to school smiling and reconnecting with friends following the holidays. As many families are aware, we have a new Leadership Team at Beaumaris and I would like to thank our community for being so welcoming and supportive of our team. Ellen, Grace and I have visited all of the classes and met all of the students; Beaumaris Primary students always stand head and shoulders above by way of displaying our four Rs, Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Relationships’, and sharing their thirst for learning in all subject areas.  

We have some new teachers joining the Beaumaris Teaching Team. Allan Skea joins us from Solway Primary School, as the Numeracy Learning Specialist and as Leader of the Year 6 Team.  Allan is a highly experienced teacher who was a Learning Specialist for high ability students. Max Pretty joins us from Mordialloc Beach Primary School. Max is an experienced senior school teacher; and is joining our Year 6 Team.  Kelly Hutchings joins us in Year 2 from a primary school in the ACT. Kelly is a highly respected teacher specialising in the early years. Keli David and Anthea Cain have resumed from family leave and we are pleased to welcome them back in Year 6; both Keli and Anthea are Learning Specialists, leading Literacy. Lotte Pikart has also resumed from family leave and is joining Miss Lacey in Year 1. It is wonderful to have these great teachers back at BPS! A copy of all of our staff is available below. 

We have many new families, in Prep and other year levels, joining our Beaumaris Primary community this year. Welcome! We hope you have had a wonderful start to the year at our school and we look forward to getting to know you all. 

This year we have a new specialist area – Environmental Science led by Lindy McManus. Environmental Science encompasses Physics, Chemistry and Biology alongside our local environment. You may have heard your child discuss how the flowers in the Kitchen Garden have been pollenated. We have seen lots of students learning about the seasonal veggies in our garden and are looking forward to the return of our chickens!   

In the Newsletter all important dates are listed for your reference. Each fortnight these dates will be updated and we anticipate this will help families plan ahead. These important dates can be accessed by clicking here.  We have ‘You Tell Us’ Interviews on the 19th and 21st of February. Information about these interviews was sent out today and a copy of the notice is available here. 

As mentioned in previous correspondence, the Statement of Intent and Level Low Down have been replaced with our year level ‘What’s Happening’; these are available here! In Week 4 and 8 of each Term we will also be running open afternoons instead of assembly. These will be opportunities to come into your child/ren’s classes for you to participate in their learning, such as Numeracy games.

Today we will be sending out our Parent Payments letter via Compass. As outlined in the Parent Payments letter, your support of Beaumaris Primary School ensures we can further facilitate outstanding educational opportunities. Parent Payments will be on Compass this year. 

Our assembly will start tomorrow, at the usual time of 3:00pm under the shade sails. We hope to see you there.
