Introducing New Staff

Emily Burgess 

Mrs Burgess has joined us again in 2024 for 2 days a week, job sharing with Ms Dennis. Mrs Burgess is not a new face to public education in Glen Innes, having been at GIPS for 7 years previously. Having completed a Bachelor of Education K-12, this is the Mrs Burgess's second year teaching high school. Mrs Burgess brings a wealth of local knowledge and energy to the HSIE team. 

Maria Makis 

Ms Makis has joined us from Emmaville Central School where she has been for the last 2 years. Previous to ECS, she has worked in numerous Western Sydney schools. Ms Makis is currently completing a PHD through UNE focusing on climate change law. It is fantastic to have Ms Makis's experience join us in HSIE. 

Rachel Denis 

Ms Denis has joined us for her first teaching position, having retained after a career in law. She has worked at Tenterfield High School as an SLSO over recent years. Many students will remember Ms Denis from last year when she completed a 4 week prac. It is fantastic to have her rejoin our team in HSIE at GIHS. 

Zoey Larkings 

Mrs Larkings has joined us as our new Drama and Music teacher as her first teaching position. Not a new face to GIHS, Zoey completed prac with Mr McKean previously and is a past student. Zoey is currently on her final prace at Tenterfield High School before she rejoins us at the end of the term. Welcome to the HSIE team Mrs Larkings!
