Did someone say the Australian National Swimming Championships?
Congratulations to our very own Darcy Connell who is heading to the Australian Championships in April 2024! Darcy recently achieved a national swimming time of 28.56 seconds in 50m backstroke, beating the entry time by 0.88 of a second- a massive achievement and something that Darcy has been striving towards! The next goal is swimming for the Australian Team! We wish Darcy all the best at the Australian National Swimming Championships in the Gold Coast next year.

On Friday the 3rd of November our Sports Academy Soccer (Football) students had the opportunity to watch Melbourne Victory train before their game against Adelaide United. The Melbourne Victory squad training was high intensity, consisting of touch work and game strategies. We are sure our students will be able to use the training session as inspiration.

We are so proud of our Year 7 Girls team who competed valiantly at the State Basketball Championships on the 14th of November. With a strong win over Strathmore Secondary College, a physical game against Bendigo and only a three-point loss to Rowville Sports Academy, our girls demonstrated they are up there with the best in the state. It was a great day at Albert Park (MSAC), in preparation for the girls’ trip to the National Basketball Championships on the Gold Coast (which was a few weeks later)!
Last term our Lowanna College Sports Academy student Oakleigh Noppert toured England with his dad. He gained a lot of experience, playing against two of the best soccer academies in the country - Leeds United and Sheffield United. He was also fortunate enough to participate in a couple of training sessions with some great academy coaches. Overall Oakleigh gained some valuable experience, playing against the highest academies of the highest order.
Through his experience, Oakleigh now knows the level he needs to be at to compete in the highest leagues.
Congratulations to Nick Sallee for making the Under 13's Latrobe Valley Junior Development team. Nick also made a hat-trick for Willow Grove against Moe in Round 2 which was an amazing achievement. 3 for 5 with 1 maiden off 4.4 overs.
Congratulations to Riley Morehu who got named Player of the Week for Gippsland United U18.1.
Congratulations to Kya Smith, Anthony Daley and Virginia Daley who participated in the Pacific Netball Championships.
Virginia and Anthony played at the Melbourne Netball Pacific Cup representing Melbourne Fiji Netball. Anthony played in the U18 Team Vonu and Virginia played in the U15's Team Totoka. It was very strong competition against Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Australia and Cook Islands. They were very strong and physical games, and we are proud that they represented their country.
It is great to see Bailey getting better every day. Goal setting is a great way to give focus to your training.
