Literacy

Grade 4 students have been working hard during literacy focussing on the morphemes <metr> and <logy>. They have been expanding their vocabulary with words that include these morphemes and incoorporating them into sentences. During our Writing Revoloution lessons grade 4's have been exploring concrete and abstract nouns.

This term students be concentrating on improving their fluency and comprehension skills. We encourage all parents to engage in nighttime reading sessions with their children and to ask questions about the text throughout.

Maths

Over the last two weeks we have focused on rounding numbers up to hundreds of thousands and using a place value chart to deconstruct the value of numbers. Students have worked hard to learn this skill and have shown they are understanding the concept. Students will be sent home with homework that goes through revision for the fundemental math skill.

Homework will be due each Friday. If students dont bring in their homework bok they will need to complete their work during lunchtime on Fridays.
