Some words from the Principal

Mrs Danielle Heatley

Farewell Year 6s and Families

As we speak, our Year 6 cohort are enjoying one of their final activities at primary school - Gumbuya World. They have lots of wonderful memories of their primary school adventures that have been reflected in their impressive yearbooks. I want to wish each one of our Year 6 students all the best on their next step of their schooling journey and encourage you all to stay in touch. To the families that are leaving us this year - thank you for your ongoing support and passion for all things Karoo and your dedication to the ongoing success of your child/children. We also wish you well for the future.

Building and Grounds update

Over the break we are excited to have the painting of the gym booked in, thanks to the money raised at the Bogan Bingo Night.  The gym floor will also be sanded, resealed and looking great for the start of the year. The Year 5/6 toilets (next to the gym) will also be painted and we are looking to beautify them even more in 2024 with some decals that the SRC have chosen. During the holiday break we will also be concentrating on the trees at Karoo - this will involve pruning, cutting and removing any tree that is unsafe.  We also can't wait to break soil on the turf in mid February, and the next big target is the re-surfacing of the end basketball court into a soccer pitch!  This has been a big request from the students so we want to make it our next target!

2024 Dates

Please note some important 2024 dates in your diary (see the calendar page in this publication).  This is to give families as much notice as possible so arrangements can be made to attend these fabulous community/school events! Especially note the PEPS (Parent Education Partnership Series) and Community Events which are after school/at night.  Also the Year 3 and 4 concert date has been locked in too!

Congratulations Sue - 15 years of service!!

Congratulations to Sue Bulhert, our wonderful Crossing Lady, who is receiving a certificate for 15 years service as our amazing Crossing Person!  We love having Sue keep our students safe and saying hello every morning and afternoon!

2024 Student Leaders

We were very proud to announce our 2024 Student leaders at the assembly last Friday 15th December.  The presentation of badges will be at 9:15am on Monday 19th February 2024 at a special ceremony.   We are also excited to introduce student action teams to offer further opportunities for students in Year 6 to show leadership in their final year. These teams include the Media Team, the Smile Squad, the Setup Squad and the Green Team.  The intention of these teams is to promote cooperation with classmates to take action around the school; an important leadership quality.  Some of the tasks support the school, build responsibility and teamwork and in turn support students across the school.

Congratulations and Many thanks to everyone!

This year has been another positive and highly productive year at Karoo Primary School. We have seen the ongoing positive engagement of all our families, through a range of school activities and special events, such as our Colour Run, Working Bees, Carols, daily classroom support, KPA and so much more.

After another busy year, I would like to thank the large number of people who continue to contribute so positively to our wonderful, caring school community. Thank you to the Karoo Parents’ Association and families across the school who have organised and supported many outstanding school events for students and the community, whilst also raising valuable funds for the school. Thank you to all our School Councillors who actively contribute to the governance of the school and support our drive for ongoing high standards of education and student performance.

A sincere thank you is extended to the dedicated and hardworking staff who have contributed to the success of Karoo Primary School in 2023. Your professionalism, diligence and the high level of care shown to all of our students is hugely valued and regularly recognised.

To all those who support our school, the school community wish to thank you for all your contributions throughout this year. With your support, our school continues to be an extremely busy, positive and dynamic learning environment.  We hope you enjoy our final Christmas Song and message to thankyou all!   (please click on the link below)

The Staff at Karoo Primary School wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas!
