Year 1/2 Report

Term 1, 2024

Welcome back to all parents and students! We are looking forward to another great term of teaching and learning.

 

Literacy

 

During Term 1 in Literacy, the students will be exploring the structure of recounts and understand the purpose of this text type.  They will be exploring a variety of language features and use them in their writing and setting goals to achieve their best.  Throughout the term, the students will learn strategies to help them develop fluency and confidence while reading by working on personal goals.  The students will also continue to develop their letter sound knowledge and vocabulary through our word study program. They will be involved in exciting language experiences to expand their vocabulary and continue to practice their high frequency words.  

 

 

Numeracy

 

During Term 1 in Maths, students will be developing their fluency in counting  and developing their knowledge of number bonds to 20 using the Rekenrek.  The students will learn to skip count by 2's, 5's and 10's. Throughout the term, students will cover place value, addition and subtraction integrating other concepts such as money and length. The students will also learn about probability and data.

 

 

Inquiry

 

During Inquiry in Term One, the students will explore ways in which we keep ourselves healthy and safe. They will be  able to classify foods and demonstrate an understanding of other ways in which we can stay healthy, through exercise, mental wellbeing and rest. 

 

 

Reminders

  • 8.50am school starts.
  • School hats need to be worn in Term 1.
  • Red folders are sent home everyday with 'Just Right Books' and 'Oxford Words' reading is recorded into the diary which will be handed out during 'Meet and Greet' evening.  All log in's are at the back of the diaries.
