Semester One Reports

In week one of term three, we will be publishing our 2025 semester one reports. These reports are intended to be a valuable reflection of your child’s academic strengths, challenges and progress as well as their social-emotional development, connection to others and a tiny taste of the many joyful experiences they have had throughout terms one and two 2025. These reports will reflect the learning and the growth that students have been engaged in throughout our first Inquiry (Community and Connection) and the beginnings of our second (We live in a network of stories)

These reports will also be reflective of Victoria’s recent shift in curriculum. Previously, we were teaching, planning and assessing in line with the Victorian Curriculum version one, and this year, we will move into 2.0. This new curriculum is very very similar to the first iteration, but there are enough differences to mean that this semester’s achievement level will not be tracked for growth from last semester’s achievement levels.

Put simply, this means that for many areas in the report there will not be a shaded dot (last semester’s achievement level) followed by a dotted line (to represent growth) leading to a bold dot (this semester’s achievement level). Instead, there will simply be the one bolded dot to indicate this semester’s achievement level.

Additionally, many members of our community will remember that last year, in the areas of English and Maths, we moved to using Continuum Tracker to continually assess student growth and achievement, and that this was represented in the report as a list of skills and learning behaviours that each student was working towards. Due to the move into curriculum 2.0, and some extremely complicated issues with the Sentral reporting system, we were not able to align continuum tracker with our reporting format this semester. Instead, students will be assessed against their mastery in a variety of English and Maths growth points. We have included an example below to hopefully make this clearer than our written word can! Many families will recognise these checklists from previous years’ reports.

Foundation 2026

There are many families in our BNWPS community who have children that will be starting school at BNWPS in 2026. We are now taking enrolments, and would love to chat to families about what their plans are. If this applies to your family, or anyone that you know, please give our office a call to organise a tour with some of our senior students and a chat with Keir or Emma.

Kinder Story Time

Every Tuesday at 10am, staff from BNWPS will be offering a story time in the library for any children aged 3-5. Together, we will have fun reading a new book, take part in a fun activity and have time to borrow and return books. We would love to see lots of our community members there!

Lost Property

As we have mentioned before, BNWPS has a monumental pile of Lost Property. We would like to remind all families to make sure that anything (and everything!) that students bring or wear to school should be clearly labelled with their name. At BNWPS we often finish off the term with a huge pile of lost property that we end up donating to local charity shops, or that just ends up in landfill. Every week, our Lost Property team goes through the pile of hats, shoes, lunchboxes and items of clothing, and tries to locate the owner of each item. This is only possible if the items are clearly labelled with the name of the student who bought the item to school. Let’s all work together to aim for a much smaller pile of lost property by the end of term two!
