It’s been an action-packed few weeks in PE across all year levels! Our Foundation students have been full of energy, building their hand-eye coordination through bat tennis and practising sprinting and relay races in preparation for next term’s exciting House Athletics Carnival.
The Year 1/2s have been diving into basketball, learning new skills, and playing team-based games that highlight sportsmanship, teamwork, and playing by the rules.
Our Year 3/4 students have had a blast rotating between soccer and basketball, sharpening their game play as they gear up for next term’s focus on team-based sports like AFL, Netball, and Volleyball. A particular hit has been Spikeball, which they’ll continue alongside Volleyball as they wrap up the term.
Meanwhile, the 5/6s have been working hard to prepare for their Winter Round Robin on June 25th. They’ve been honing their skills in their chosen sports and really enjoying basketball drills and friendly full-court matches.
It’s been fantastic to see all students so engaged, active, and supportive of one another in their learning through sport!
Junior students have been practising colours and how to count from 1 to 20. As they were very excited about counting in Japanese, we ended up counting to 100. I hear students singing in Japanese in a yard during playtime. We learn words and phrases through music.
Middle and senior students have been practising how to write each hiragana symbol.
Some students have now started reading Japanese words written in hiragana.
They can also speak simple Japanese. We just had a mini-play all in Japanese, asking what colours they like.
It has been a great joy to witness their progress.
