Junior School

Developing Resilience

One of the joys of my role is meeting with prospective parents and boys. The interviews, which you have all experienced, provide an opportunity for the school to provide relevant information regarding our processes and programs, to assist families to make an informed decision regarding their son’s education. A question which is always asked to families is “why Trinity?”. Without fail the response includes the opportunities which are provided for boys who attend our College. It is these opportunities that we also develop boys' gratitude, empathy, and resilience.

Reflecting on Term Two, boys have had the chance to participate in a range of different learning opportunities and further develop their resilience. Our Christian Service at Wheelchairs for Kids, St Vinnies and Shopfront assist our boys to develop empathy for those less fortunate and put into action our mantra of being a Man for Others. Year Five and Six students were challenged in JPSSA winter fixtures. Our Year Four students braved the bus on two occasions for their football and hockey carnival against Aquinas. We witnessed comradery and grit at our Cross-Country carnival and persistence and talent during our Junior School music night.

Each of the examples above challenge boys to step out of their comfort zone, demonstrate a commitment to improvement and personal growth and develop resilience. We enjoy watching boys find joy through these opportunities as they continue to strive to be the best they can be.

God Bless,

Mr James McPherson

Head of Junior School
