Naidoc Week

NAIDOC Week at HSSC – Celebrating Culture, History and Achievements

NAIDOC Week is a significant time for all Australians to recognise and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At Homestead Senior Secondary College, we proudly support and uplift Indigenous voices, and we are excited to host a week of lunchtime activities that reflect the rich and diverse cultures of First Nations peoples.

What is NAIDOC Week and Why Do We Celebrate?NAIDOC Week—held nationally during the first week of July—stands for the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It’s a chance to acknowledge the resilience, contributions and ongoing connection to Country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Whether through music, food, art, or storytelling, NAIDOC Week encourages learning and reflection on our shared history and a vision for a more inclusive future.

When is NAIDOC Week? This year, NAIDOC Week will be celebrated from Monday 6th July to 13th July, with school-based activities running Monday to Wednesday during lunchtime in the Café.
