VCE VM Report

With the term coming to a close, it is important to reflect on what has been achieved, but also what is to come in term 3. Term 2 saw the Year 11 and Year 12 students finish out the learning for Unit 1 and Unit 3. From recording vlogs to creating giant chess boards, both Year 11 and Year 12 VCE VM students worked hard and with purpose, ensuring they achieved their very best and ticked off the outcomes for their respective units. Term 2 also saw an influx of work placements being organised/undertaken, with students getting experience in the work place based on their VET studies. Experiences in bakeries, childcare centres, hairdressing salons and more have been had, giving the students an insight into what the world of work will be like. It has also opened the door to potential School Based Apprenticeship opportunities, in conjunction with Headstart who will assist in making this happen. All in all, term 2 has been a busy, but rewarding term!

But as one term comes to a close, it is important to look to the future, with term 3 providing important opportunities for the VCE VM students and the community to come together.

On Monday 25th of August from 3pm till 4:30pm, the VCE VM students at both Year 11 and Year 12 will be holding the inaugural VCE VM showcase in the cafe/gym. This showcase is intended to allow the Homestead schooling community to come and see the work that the VCE VM program has been working on for the year as well as getting an insight in to what the program entails for prospective families. The VCE VM students will be organising the entire afternoon from the displays, to the catering, to the posters that will soon start appearing via COMPASS and physically within the school surroundings. The afternoon will be a fantastic way for us to showcase what the VCE VM program has to offer, but also all the hard work that both year levels have been putting into their studies. We invite any and all members from the Homestead community to come and have a look, especially if your students are contemplating a VCE VM pathway.
